Ganoon na talaga sila sa akin -- DLSU middle Mika Reyes
Mika Reyes received a shower of boos and jeers whenever the De La Salle middle touches the ball.
She only has one thing to say to her haters.
She doesn’t give a damn.
The graduating Lady Spiker, known for her on court swag that DLSU supporters love and oppositions love to hate, said that she had a fair share of jeers in her collegiate career and what she received Saturday inside the Big Dome is nothing new.
“Actually hindi siya bago sa akin. Ever since noong first year, nu’ng rookie year ko ganoon na talaga sila sa akin,” said the mestiza looker moments after DLSU’s rout of defending two-time champion Ateneo De Manila Lady Eagles.
The Taft-based squad silenced the sea of blue inside the Big Dome with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-21, victory for the Lady Spikers’ first championship win over the Lady Eagles in three seasons.
Reyes chipped in 13 points for DLSU including six of the team’s total of 13 kill blocks, most of which she scored while holding the fort in front of the net against Ateneo attackers that include two-time Most Valuable Player Alyssa Valdez.
Her swag and antics every time her team scores a point during the game drew the ire of the opposing team’s fans but the 5-foot-9 player just shook everything off.
“Siyempre as a player naman, hindi ko siya tine-take seriously. Kahit sino namang crowd, kahit sinong opponent gaganunin ka talaga nila. It’s their way para i-cheer ang school nila,” she said.
“Ako wala naman akong kaso doon. Ganoon lang talaga sila.”
