Parang nabugbog lang ng kaunti ‘yung left knee niya -- DLSU athletic director Nongnong Calanog on Lady Spiker Ara Galang
The De La Salle Lady Spikers breathed sigh of relief.
DLSU athletic director Nongnong Calanog said Thursday that star hitter Ara Galang was cleared of any major injury and suffered only a mild contusion on her left knee last Wednesday in Game 2 of the best-of-three 78th UAAP women’s volleyball Finals series against two-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles.
“Parang nabugbog lang ng kaunti ‘yung left knee niya,” Calanog told ABS-CBN Sports Thursday during the men’s football semifinals between DLSU and Ateneo at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium. “Parang mild contusion lang siya.”
It was the same knee that sustained an ACL tear last year that sidelined the fifth year Galang during Season 77 championship series against their bitter rival.
Calanog said that he is still waiting for further update on Galang, who during the late part of the third set of the Lady Spikers’ 25-18, 28-26, 17-25, 16-25, 11-15, loss was helped by the team’s physical therapist back to the dugout.
Galang returned in the fourth set but was noticeably playing far from the aggressive form she showed in the first two frames.
Game 3 of the series is on Saturday at the Big Dome.
