FUTURE BIG THREE. Justine Baltazar, Aljun Melecio, and Ricci Rivero will all be part of DLSU's lineup for UAAP Season 79.
UAAP Juniors champion and Finals MVP Justine Baltazar’s debut in green and white will come earlier than expected.
The six-foot seven-inch center out of Nazareth School of National University committed De La Salle Universty last March. However, it was found out that he would have to sit out one year for academic reasons.
Apparently, all of those have been ironed out, as a couple of sources revealed to ABS-CBN Sports.
While they did not give out any specifics, the sources said that complications regarding Baltazar’s high school grades have already been cleared up. As such, he would not have to sit out one year and would be eligible to play for the Green Archers in the upcoming UAAP Season 79.
The towering Pampanga native himself confirmed that he will don the green and white for Season 79. “Oo, okay na,” he told ABS-CBN Sports.
Asked about the development, however, coach Aldin Ayo did not grant any confirmation, but did say solutions are being tried for whatever problems there are. “Right now, inaayos pa namin yung kay Baltazar,” he said.
Baltazar was the final piece in a fantastic offseason for DLSU that also netted one-time NCAA champion coach Aldin Ayo, UAAP Juniors Season MVP Aljun Melecio, and NCAA Juniors standout Ricci Rivero.
