For the past two UAAP Seasons, Laura Lehmann and Jeanine Tsoi became integral parts of the Ateneo and De La Salle community, in terms of the UAAP.

From Season 77 and Season 78, the two lovely ladies were acted as the on-camera link between the fans and their respective teams and players.

Now, after two seasons filled with experiences and memories, Lau and Jeanine have graduated from their stint as UAAP courtside reporters, and just like the ones who came before them did, they pass on the courtside duties to two ladies who showed that they have what it takes.

Meet Denice Dinsay and Bea Escudero, the brand new UAAP Courtside Reporters for Ateneo and DLSU!

A third year AB Communication Art major in the Ateneo, Denice says she’s looking forward to follow in the footsteps of Laura.

“I am in shock, I guess, I’m just really ecstatic right now, to be able to get this stint after Laura. I know I’m going to fill some big shoes that she left, so I’m just looking forward to the season.”

For the 19-year old, becoming the courtside reporter for Ateneo is the realization of a long-time dream.

“Well, I’ve always wanted to try out to be the courtside reporter, it was the dream, and when Laura said that she was done after her two seasons were up, I said ‘Oh wow, an opportunity! Maybe I can finally achieve the dream!’, and I did!“

And while Denice is no doubt excited for the season, she knows that there’s a lot of work to be done as a UAAP CSR.

“I’m expecting a lot of work, I’m really studying so hard on everything, and also to be close with the coaches, the players, I have to work on my relationship with them because hopefully, I’ll be staying with them for the entire season.”

So what can the Ateneo community and fans expect from their new courtside teammate?

“They can expect everything from a new perspective. I’m a new reporter, so I guess freshness and energy that I will try to employ each game as I report for the team, and improvement also. I will always keep striving for more. MAGIS! “

An AB Psychology major from De La Salle, Bea is no stranger to the lights and lenses, having prior experience in modelling and hosting. Still, she says that the journey to becoming DLSU’s new face on the sidelines wasn’t a walk in the park.

“Coming into this, I knew that there was competition, that it wasn’t gonna be easy, and I was right. It wasn’t an easy journey for me, I’m just really glad that I was able to make it.”

Bea says sports has always been a part of her life, being a football player in her younger years, but wanted to expose herself to something different once getting into college.

“I’ve always been exposed to sports, sports has always been part of my lifestyle, and when I got into college I wanted to focus on other things, and that’s why I’m here also, I wanted to really see what else I can do, aside from playing sports.”

Being the link between the fans and the DLSU teams, Bea hopes to be able to show people a lot more about the team than what’s being shown during the games.

“Expect in-depth information about the players and their stories and experiences, because not everyone can watch the training, not everyone follows all the games, so it’s my responsibility to tell them what they don’t know what I was able to get from the players.”

With the new season just around the corner, Bea is looking forward to representing the her school by being the best CSR that she can be.

“I’m most excited about just being able to deliver my reports well. I think in every courtside reporter’s head, it’s about representing your school well, so that’s really what my mindset is, being able to do it the best way that I can, and deliver the way they expect me to, and for the love of the school as well, since I’ve been in La Salle my whole life, practically.”

It’s a new season, and the start of a new chapter for Ateneo and De La Salle, and Denice and Bea are definitely excited to be part of it.
