NEW AND IMPROVED. J-Jay Alejandro is a different player heading into UAAP 79.

There will be a new J-Jay Alejandro in the upcoming UAAP 79 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

That much is clear when you see National University’s fourth-year lead guard.

Asked about his new look, the 21-year-old responded, “Nung una, trip-trip lang, e natuwa ako. Kaya hanggang season na ‘to.”

Alejandro promised that his new ‘do will be a hit because it will keep changing from game to game. He said that sometimes, he will have full-on cornrows; sometimes, he will have half-braided hair; and sometimes, he will just let his hair down.

The change in the Leyte native goes way beyond looks, however, as he guaranteed that everybody will see a more well-rounded player. “’Di na ako more on scoring. Focus na lang ako to help my teammates improve,” he said.

He then continued, “More of doing something para sa teammates ko na talaga. Kasi it has to start from me kung paano namin mamo-move yung bola.”

Already a highly-regarded scorer, a playmaking Alejandro may very well unlock the Bulldogs’ chances at contention. “Ngayon kasi, gusto ko maglaro as a team player. Yung scoring naman kasi, nandyan na yan,” he said.

He then continued, “Mas masarap sa feeling na nakikita kong nakaka-score ang teammates ko.”
