Age limit rules UST guard Sheriff ineligible for UAAP 79

The UST Growling Tigers just took a major blow.
Veteran point guard Jamil Sherif was announced as ineligible to participate in the UAAP Season 79 Men's Basketball Tournament because of the age limit, as per The Varsitarian, the news organ of UST.
According to the UAAP rules, a player must be below 25 years old as of July 31.
Sheriff turned 25 years old last July 21.
As starting point guard, the Fil-Canadian Sheriff provided the Tigers valuable minutes in their Finals run last year.
The Tigers and their new coach Boy Sablan already have their hands full after losing other veterans Karim Abdul, Ed Daquioag, and Kevin Ferrer, along with their coach Bong Dela Cruz. .
