Lady Archers trounce Lady Maroons to take early league lead
EARLY CLAIMS. DLSU stands alone atop the leaderboard after one week in the tournament.

De La Salle University has gotten off to a quick start as the pacesetters in the UAAP 79 Womens Basketball Tournament behind the emergence of a new paint presence in Snow Penaranda.

Netting 10 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists, Penaranda powered the Lady Archers to a 65-46 rout of University of the Philippines on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Lady Maroons were keeping close and were only down by two after the first quarter before Bennette Revillosa ignited a 23-6 onslaught in the second period that mounted a 40-21 advantage in favor of DLSU.

The Lady Archers would never look back all the way to back-to-back wins to begin the season.

Revillosa led the way with 13 points while a total of five players contributed at least six points in the scoring column. “I emphasize ball movement because basketball is a team game. It’s not an individual game,” coach Cholo Villanueva expressed after the game.

In the day’s other game, the University of the East walloped the University of Sto. Tomas, 74-57, to barge into the win column.
