ANALYST. Kiefer Ravena said he did some panel duty while watching the game live.
Basketball “Phenom” Kiefer Ravena and volleyball “Phenom” Alyssa Valdez were both in attendance at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday as Ateneo de Manila University battled neighboring rival University of the Philippines.
It was Valdez’ second time to watch since her graduation while it was Ravena’s first time since his last game as a Blue Eagle nearly a year ago. “Ang sarap panoorin because it’s my first game to watch live,” he expressed after his alma mater wound up as the victors in the Battle of Katipunan.
While the former two-time MVP had a good first time, he had no problem admitting that he had some difficulty not wanting to be right in the middle of the action. “Medyo mahirap. I miss playing for Ateneo, I miss playing for the blue and white,” he said.
He then continued, “Kahit ako, adjustment period pa rin.”
Just how difficult was it? Ravena shared that even Valdez had a hard time sitting next to him.
He was kidding, of course, as he shared, “Sabi nga ni Alyssa, nung nanonood ako, para raw akong coach.”
He then continued, “’Di raw ako enjoyable kasama manood kasi ina-analyze ko raw lahat ng bagay.”
Asked which point of the game did he want to come in, the Ateneo product answered candidly, “The whole 40 minutes especially kung nagtu-turnover, yung mga ganyan, gusto mo i-assert yung sarili mo. Dun pumapasok si Kiefer Ravena diba?”
Once he saw how the Blue Eagles were battling, however, Ravena said he was nothing but proud. “Masaya rin ako kasi nakita kong kaya naman pala nila na wala (si Kiefer Ravena). It’s a new era for the team,” he said.
He then continued, “It’s just a matter of them adjusting to the roles they have now. I’m sure they’ll make everybody feel their identity very soon.”
