The Bulldogs improved their league-best record to 6-0 and have won 24 consecutive ties dating back to 2014.

Defending men's champion National University bested University of the Philippines, 4-1, in a duel of unbeaten teams to move closer in claiming the outright berth in the UAAP Season 79 badminton championship round.

NU shoots for a spot in the best-of-three title series against Far Eastern University in the final day of eliminations at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.

The loss was the first by the Fighting Maroons, who have already assured of a slot in the Final Four, after winning five straight contests.

Ateneo overpowered Adamson, 5-0, to inch closer in bagging one of two remaining semifinals slots with its fourth win in six starts.

In other ties, last season's runner-up De La Salle downed University of the East, 4-1, while the Growling Tigers nipped the Tamaraws, 3-2, to keep their semis hopes alive.

The Green Archers and UST remained tied in fourth place with a 3-3 card.

FEU is on the brink of elimination with its fourth loss in six ties and will face the Bulldogs on Saturday.

The Red Warriors and the Falcons are already out of contention with 1-5 and 0-6 slates, respectively.
