NEW OBSTACLE. DLSU will have to overcome the absence of head coach Aldin Ayo and team captain Jeron Teng if they are to sweep the first round.
Even as they are still appealing the one-game suspension of head coach Aldin Ayo, De La Salle University have been dealt another big blow as they head into their first rivalry game with Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP 79 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
It has been found on Saturday morning that team captain Jeron Teng has bone spurs in his left foot and will be out for at least a week. The development was confirmed by his mother Susan.
This means that the graduating forward will be unavailable when the Green Archers go for a first round sweep against the Blue Eagles on Sunday at the MOA Arena.
Teng is averaging 16.3 points in 41.7 percent shooting, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 27.1 minutes.
As is stands, the Taft-based team are also set to miss their fiery mentor on the sidelines after he got himself ejected in their previous game. An ejection entails an automatic one-game suspension.
