NU keeps UAAP high school volleyball lead
National University is lording over the boys and girls divisions of the 79th UAAP high school volleyball.

Defending girls champion National University downed De La Salle-Zobel, 25-15, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, to extend its perfect run to seven over the weekend in the UAAP Season 79 high school volleyball tournament at the Adamson University gym.    

The Bullpups also stayed on top in the boys division as the reigning titlists avenged their first round loss to University of the East with a 22-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-20 victory followed by a 25-19, 25-13, 25-19 romp of Ateneo for an 8-1 card.    

University of Santo Tomas stayed within reach of NU in girls play with an easy 25-14, 25-8, 25-9 triumph over UP Integrated School to improve at 6-1.    

The Junior Lady Spikers, who earlier defeated the Junior Lady Warriors, 25-19, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, at the start of the second round last Saturday, now have a 5-3 card.    

Adamson University rebounded from a 12-25, 18-25, 25-18, 17-25 loss to Far Eastern University-Diliman with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-16 triumph over UPIS to rise at 4-4.    

After beating the Baby Falcons, the Baby Tamaraws outlasted the Junior Lady Warriors, 25-20, 22-25, 25-12, 23-25, 15-11, to gain a share of fourth place with their fourth victory in eight contests.    

The Tiger Cubs also swept their weekend matches in the boys section by downing FEU-Diliman, 25-18, 25-23, 18-25, 25-20 and La Salle-Zobel, 25-18, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18, for their eighth win in nine matches.       

Action resumes this weekend with the boys matches at 7:30 a.m., followed by the girls division games in the afternoon.
