DLSU in women's table tennis Finals anew
The Lady Archers hurdled their biggest threat for the throne, Far Eastern University, 3-2, at the end of the eliminations to book a place in the best-of-three Finals.
De La Salle University's three-peat seeking women's squad jumped straight to the championship round after completing a 14-game sweep of the eliminations, while its men's squad stayed in the hunt after winning two consecutive do-or-die matches Tuesday in the UAAP Season 79 table tennis tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym.

With Donna Gamilla leading the way, the Lady Archers hurdled their biggest threat for the throne, Far Eastern University, 3-2, at the end of the eliminations to book a place in the best-of-three Finals.

Looking invincible despite losing Olympian Ian Lariba to graduation, La Salle will face either the Lady Tamaraws or University of Santo Tomas in the title round on Oct. 26.

The Green Archers, meanwhile, needed to go the hard way to keep their aspirations for a fourth consecutive championship alive.

De La Salle beat FEU, 3-1, and University of the Philippines, in a double playoff for the last semifinals berth to forge a first step-ladder duel with No. 3 University of the East.

The Growling Tigers also gained an outright passage in the men's Finals after going 14-0 in the eliminations. UST beat National University, 3-1, in the final day of elims to clinch a spot in the championship round on Oct. 26.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs took the twice-to-beat bonus after finishing second in the eliminations with a 10-4 record.

The Lady Tamaraws beat the Tigresses, 3-1, in a playoff to nail the twice-to-beat bonus in the second step-ladder semis match. Dropping at third set, UST ousted No. 4 UP, 3-2, to arrange a rematch with FEU for the right to face De La Salle in the Finals.
