WHERE THE HEART IS. Aldin Ayo was right at home in the San Juan Arena.
For the first time in seven years, the UAAP was back at the San Juan Arena last Wednesday.
And they couldn’t have chosen a better day to do it for the head coach of De La Salle University who were matched up with National University then.
Asked if he feels like he and his Green Archers had some sort of a homecourt advantage, Aldin Ayo candidly answered, “Parang ganoon.”
Before he was at the helm of a seemingly unstoppable juggernaut that has rolled to 10 wins in as many games, the amiable mentor was calling the shots for Colegio de San Juan de Letran who rode a Cinderella run all the way to a championship a year ago.
And you know, the Knights, as well as the rest of the NCAA, all play at the San Juan Arena.
That is exactly why Ayo had no problem admitting that right when he entered the venue, he was nothing but comfortable. As he put it, “Ever since naman, magaan sa akin ang (San Juan) Arena. Simula nung Filoil (Preseason Tournament) nung first year ko sa Letran, pagpasok na pagpasok ko rito, magaan.”
He then continued, “Kanina, magaan din. Magaan yung aura ng venue.”
The comfort also seemed to show itself on the DLSU players as they destroyed the Bulldogs by 25 points, 113-88.
