MAKE SOME NOISE. UE will see action in the playoffs for the second straight season.

Not only are the University of the East in the Final Four, they remain well and alive for a twice-to-beat advantage in the 79th Season of the UAAP Womens Basketball Tournament.

Nicole Mendina made sure of that and took on the scoring load in the Lady Warriors’ 50-30 rout of Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Mendina scored 15 points to pick up the slack from Love Sto. Domingo and Eunique Chan who only had nine points apiece in their eighth win in 11 games.

Now assured of the playoffs for the second straight season, coach Aileen Lebornio said, “Blessing, blessing dahil lumabas lahat ng pinagpapraktisan namin.”

UE never trailed and dominated all throughout – especially at the defensive end. Aside from the opening quarter, they surrendered no more than eight points to their opponents in the next three quarters and suffocated their opponents to measly 26.7 percent shooting.

While they weren’t scoring much, Sto. Domingo and Chan weren’t scoring, they were holding down the fort with 42 rebounds combined.

At 8-3, the Lady Warriors are breathing behind the necks of 8-2 second-running DLSU.

Meanwhile, University of Sto. Tomas fanned the flames of their playoff chances following a 62-58 triumph over Far Eastern University.

With the win, the 4-7 Tigresses moved closer to 5-6 and fourth-running Adamson. Also still in the running for the fourth and final playoff berth are the 3-8 Lady Tamaraws and Lady Eagles.
