NO TIME TO PANIC. Jeron Teng is not exactly fazed by La Salle's first defeat in Season 79.
Despite losing their first game this season, La Salle captain Jeron Teng is not sweating, in fact if it was possible, he'd like to play the Green Archers' next game right after they got whipped by rival Ateneo Sunday.
You know, so they could bounce back immediately.
The Blue Eagles snapped La Salle's 12-game winning streak with a convincing 83-71 victory in the second round of the UAAP Season 79 men's basketball tournament, making sure that no Green Sweep takes place and we'll all have a Final Four this year.
Teng, who topscored Taft with 18 points in the loss, was first to admit that his team was a little off coming from a long break.
"Di ko masabi eh, pero we were sluggish today," he said as the Green Archers shot an atrocious 28.7 percent from the field on their way to a season low 71 points.
Assured of a twice-to-beat advantage but not the number 1 seed yet, Teng assured that the Green Archers will be back to their usual Mayhem selves the by the time their grudge match against defending champion FEU rolls.
"Basta for sure we'll play beter than today's game. Ngayon pa lang gusto na namin maglaro para makabawi eh. We'll show that the next game," the La Salle captain said.
Despite dropping their first game of the season, Teng is not too worried about his team's performance against their archrivals.
One loss is not enough for Taft to press the panic button.
"Just be positive because we're still in good position, we're still number 1 right now. There's nothing to worry about," Teng said.
