Bullpups begin title defense against lowly Junior Warriors
NEW YEAR. John Lloyd Clemente will now be at the forefront of NU's still formidable attack.

Games on Saturday at the San Juan Arena

9:00 PM – Ateneo vs UST

11:00 PM – FEU-Diliman vs DLSZ

1:00 PM – UPIS vs Adamson

3:00 PM – NU vs UE

Justine Baltazar’s tower has risen somewhere else, but now standing in his place is John Lloyd Clemente.

And that is more than enough to keep Nazareth School of National University at the top of the heap at the onset of the UAAP 79 Juniors Basketball Tournament.

Clemente and the Bullpups want to waste no time in reinforcing their dominance when they take on University of the East on Saturday at the San Juan Arena.

The graduating swingman will now be the featured player for the defending champions, but will have more than enough help in Rhayyan Amsali and Daniel Atienza when they commence their title defense at 3:00 PM.

The same cannot be said for the Junior Warriors who went winless last season. Jett Publico will still be back, but will no longer have Kobe Camarillo by his side.

Meanwhile, runner-up De La Salle Zobel’s new look will immediately be put to the test by Far Eastern University-Diliman at 11:00 PM.

The Junior Archers will now rely on MR Romero and Jan Sobrevega with the graduation of Aljun Melecio and Brent Paraiso. On the other hand, the Baby Tamaraws will come in with an intact core fronted by Kenji Roman and JJ Sapinit.

With DLSZ expected to go down a notch, Ateneo de Manila High School is more than ready to rise.

SJ Belangel will lead the fully-loaded Blue Eaglets into battle with University of Sto. Tomas at 9:00 PM.

In the day’s other game set at 1:00 PM, Juan Gomez de Liano and University of the Philippines Integrated School tackle Adamson High School.
