LOOKING FORWARD. DLSU coach Aldin Ayo has long awaited his rematch with FEU coach Nash Racela.
At long last, title favorite De La Salle University will once again get to test its mettle against defending champion Far Eastern University.
The two teams have come far from their early season meeting which the Green Archers claimed, 83-78.
Still, they remain the top teams in the tournament, along with Ateneo de Manila University who just so happened to defeat both of them the last time around.
That loss, their first of the season, could not dampen DLSU coach Aldin Ayo’s anticipation for their rematch with the Tamaraws. “We’re still loose. Excited ako kay coach Nash,” he expressed.
Since that setback against their archrivals last Saturday, the first-year mentor said they have used almost the entire week to prepare for the defending champions.
And in Ayo’s eyes, his Archers are only going to come at FEU even hungrier coming off their first setback of the season. As he put it, “Siyempre, coming from a loss, mas motivated kami. Actually, lahat, all members of the team from the boss to the utility, for sure, mas motivated.”
Nonetheless, the one-time NCAA champion coach admitted that they first have to work on themselves to make sure they wouldn’t be going into a losing streak after having dominated the league for a long time. “Maglilinis muna kami ng bakuran before namin iisipin yung FEU. Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila, before everything else, they have to overcome themselves,” he said.
He then continued, “Yung sarili mo muna then kapag ready ka na sa sarili mo, lift your teammates, then kalaban na. So maglilinis muna kami ng bakuran.”
