NO REGRETS. Even with UST's worst finish in the Final Four era, team captain Louie Vigil said he gave it all he had.
University of Sto. Tomas will finish the UAAP 79 Men’s Basketball Tournament with the school’s worst finish since the inception of the Final Four.
Still, team captain Louie Vigil said he can rest assured that he gave the Tigers anything and everything he had.
The graduating guard donned the black and gold for the last time last Saturday and it was there that he made peace with how his captainship went down. “Simula pa lang, kinakabahan na ako. Tinatanong ko sarili ko kung nagawa ko na ba ang lahat kasi there’s still something in me na parang ‘di ko nabigay lahat para sa UST community,” he shared.
He then continued, “Pero meron din inside me na sinasabi na tama na at nagawa ko na ang lahat.”
However history will judge his leadership of the underachieving Tigers, Vigil can always say that through it all, he averaged 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 27 minutes.
Now his time in Espana is over, there’s only one thing left to do for the 24-year-old. “Pahinga muna, recover muna ng katawan kasi may nararamdaman akong minor injuries. Pero I’ll be back (to work) in two weeks,” he said.
Turning serious, however, Vigil said that whatever step he takes next, having offers for the PBA D-League and the Asean Basketball League, he will be hungrier than ever. As he put it, “Basta I’ll do my best para mag-improve and be ready for next year.”
