Apektado ang papasok sa top three dahil walang UP -- Bernabe

University of the Philippines' absence in this year's UAAP Cheerdance will affect the competition itself.
Eight-time champion University of the Philippines’ decision to skip this year’s UAAP Cheerdance Competition will put an asterisk not only on the competition but also on the teams that will end up on the podium.
The Diliman-based pep squad’s announcement of not joining the much-anticipated event just weeks before the competition came as a shock.
Kung madagdagan that’s good pero kung mabawasan parang sayang naman,” said coach Ghicka Bernabe of the four-peat-seeking National University Pep Squad.
In a conversation with ABS-CBN Sports during the squad’s primer shoot, Bernabe in her opinion said that the effect of UP’s absence might take away the legitimacy of teams to land at the podium.
“Apektado lahat.
Competition starts at 2:00 p.m. at the Big Dome.
The former Far Eastern University cheerdancer admitted that she and the other coaches were in disbelief when they learned about the news during the coaches meeting weeks back.
Never kong naisip ‘yun.”
Bernabe continued that UP skipping the event actually circulated among the small cheerdance community after last year’s result. They never thought UP will decide to drop their participation this year and instead join an Asian competition.
“UP is very competitive alam nating lahat ‘yan. Kumabaga nakagawa na sila ng pangalan and lagi silang part ng top three.”
