Sobrang saya, hindi ko rin alam kung ano ang masasabi ko on my hosting job today. I just had fun with Nikko and Gretch and all the supporters of each and every schools today -- Alyssa Valdez
Volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez received two thumbs up from Nikko Ramos and Gretchen Fulido after her first stint as a host in the 2016 UAAP Cheerdance competition Saturday at the Big Dome.
“Alyssa was great,” said the experienced radio jock, host and former University of the East courtside reporter of the three-time UAAP and V-League Most Valuable Player. “Alyssa will always be humble and tell you na she doesn’t think she did great.”
“We learned from sequence one na Alyssa wasn’t someone that we were gonna have to carry even though it was her first try,” he added. “I was a fan of her earlier hosting-wise.”
Valdez was tapped as the event’s post-performance host, talking to the members of each of the seven schools’ pep squads.
Being humble as always, Valdez said that she still need to learn a lot more about hosting.
“Hindi ko alam I’m not capable or hindi rin talaga ako ‘yung nasa position to say or comment sa kung ano ang ginawa ko today,” said the 23-year year old former Ateneo de Manila Queen Eagle. “I just really had fun today.”
Fulido, also a former courtside reporter for University of the Philippines and current TV Patrol anchor, commended Valdez for her job.
“In-enjoy niya ang pagho-host and sinabi namin sa kanya na just have fun,” she said.
Valdez said that it was a memorable experience.
“Siyempre ang mga first time experience na ganito di mo naman talaga makakalimutan,” Valdez said. “Sobrang saya, hindi ko rin alam kung ano ang masasabi ko on my hosting job today. I just had fun with Nikko and Gretch and all the supporters of each and every schools today.”
“Sa kanila din ako talaga kumuha ng confidence, kay Nikko and Gretch,” she added. “Kasi when we were preparing, when we were reading the scripts and running through it, sila lang ‘yung nagsasabi na “Ly just be yourself. Let’s just follow the script and mag-enjoy lang tayo.””
Ramos even joked that Valdez did a better job than him.
“And then I got extremely irritated at her pagdating noong second body kasi I realized that there’s nothing that she’s not better than me at so that was some kind of depressing ng mga around two or three schools but after that I forgave her,” Ramos jested.
He even added that, “Next year me and Gretchen are out of the job and Alyssa is doing this all by herself.”
And we might be seeing more of the Phenom as a host.
“Why not? It’s a new challenge for me. I will do my best and prepare well if given a chance,” she said.
