Happy couple Alfonso Perez and Regine Oscuro will remember the 2016 UAAP Cheerdance Competition.
They’ll be celebrating this date each year from now on.
Their first time to see the cheerdance performance live was made extra special by Perez, a management graduate from University of the East, when he popped the big question to his long-time girlfriend in front of the jam-packed crowd inside the Big Dome Saturday.
“Yes” was Oscuro’s response.
Perez planned his proposal the night before to put their five-year relationship to the next level.
The 27-year-old Perez has a cool reason for choosing the event to propose.
“Kasi ‘yung event parang majority niya ay puro girls talaga eh. Gusto ko ipa-feel sa kanya na gusto kong mag-propose sa kanya sa harapan ng maraming babae,” he said as Oscuro blushed.
The couple plan to tie the knot on 2019.
“Nagpaalam muna ako sa parents niya and nag-promise naman ako na after pa ng board exam,” Perez explained.
Oscuro, a medical student from Ateneo, said that they plan to get married after she takes the board exam.
“Nagulat (ako) kasi hindi ko alam na gagawin din niya ‘yan sa ganyang karaming crowd,” said the 25-year-old Oscuro. “Akala ko it would be just friends and family if ever it will happen. Nagulat ako and sobrang happy naman na it happened this way.
She even joked that “she’s the most beautiful girl in the venue filled with the prettiest cheerdancers and courtside reporters in the UAAP.”
“Ang haba ng hair ko. Oo talaga natatapakan na ng mga tao sa buong Araneta,” she said.
The couple met during a Christmas party for SM back in 2011 when they were invited to sing in the event. Both were then working for SM with Perez under SMDC while Oscuro was with SM Investments.
“Noong kinakausap ako ng nag-invite to sing di ko pa alam na siya ang makakasama ko. Once ko lang siya na-meet before that then after nun tulu’y tuloy na,” said Oscuro. “Hindi ko alam na siya ang makakasama ko to sing and then sa mga practice doon kami naging close.”
And the rest as they say is history.
Congratulations and best wishes to you both.
