RIVALRY GAME. Jeron Teng and DLSU want nothing more than to avenge their first and only loss in the season.
Jeron Teng is down to the last three, at maximum, games in his collegiate career.
Already having one championship, one Finals MVP, one Rookie of the Year, and three Mythical selections, the 22-year-old remains dead set in finishing what De La Salle University started with a dominant 13-1 elimination round. “Personally, I’m trying to give La Salle a championship in my final year. I need to do whatever it takes, same with the whole team,” he said.
Making it even more special for Teng and the rest of the Green Archers is that they will be waging war against archrival Ateneo de Manila University for all the glory. It’s the first time since 2008 that the archrivals will be engaged in the so-called “Dream Finals.”
As if the rivalry series in the championship round needed even more color, DLSU’s first and only loss in the season was at the hands of the Blue Eagles.
And that is exactly why captain Teng and his teammates were hoping it would be Ateneo rather than Far Eastern University who would come out to meet them at the other end. As he put it, “Sobrang excited ako dahil I’m down to my last two to three games tapos maganda pa na Ateneo.”
He then continued, “They beat us last game and we have something to prove pa. I think we’re going to show it sa Finals.”
