Abadiano shines in Baby Falcons' rout of Tiger Cubs
Gerry Abadiano dropped 21 points in Adamson's domination of University of Sto. Tomas.

Adamson was just unstoppable plain and simple.

The streaking Baby Falcons toyed with the hapless University of Sto. Tomas Tiger Cubs Saturday, needing only a good first quarter spark to turn the match into an ugly 86-43 massacre as Adamson extended its winning run to six in the 79th UAAP juniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Still unscathed to cement its perch on solo top spot, the boys of head coach Goldwin Monteverde buckled down to work after the Tiger Cubs took their only taste of the lead, 5-2, to breeze past UST and move a win closer to sweeping the first round.

Monteverde said that they are now reaping the fruits of their hard work building up for the season.

“Siguro hindi naman ako nagugulat (sa winning streak) kasi we’ve been working hard every day sa mga practices namin since Day 1 ng summer until now they have the same attitude towards practice,” the mentor said. “Sa part namin dahil sa tinatrabaho nila sa practice ini-expect din namin na magbubunga.”

Rookie Encho Serrano moved a step back to come off the bench but still got his usual numbers with 16 points and seven rebounds for Adamson. Gerry Abadiano top scored for the Baby Falcons with 21 markers on an 8-of-10 shooting clip including three triples.

The Baby Falcons opened the flood gates in the third quarter after a 41-25 advantage at the half by pouring 32 points. Adamson built their biggest lead 83-48 early in the payoff period as the Baby Falcons sent the Tiger Cubs to a 1-5 record.

Adamson wraps up the first round against University of the East.

Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila prevailed over University of the Philippines Integrated School, 79-55, while De La Salle-Zobel routed UE, 86-54.

The Blue Eaglets improved to 3-3 slate while the Junior Archers notched their second win in six games tied with the Junior Maroons. The Junior Warriors fell to 1-5 record.
