AWWW... JT: De La Salle King Archer Jeron Teng with his queen Jeanine Tsoi.
“I love you. I’m so proud of you.”
This was the sweetest reward De La Salle King Archer Jeron Teng received from his biggest fan and supporter after the outgoing small forward led the green-clad squad back to the throne in 79th UAAP men’s basketball championship against arch rival Ateneo de Manila University.
Teng got the warmest and tightest of hugs he received from the adoring crowd when he finally reached the girl who inspired him the whole season long.
It was a scene best fit for romantic flick as cameras flashed with both Teng and former courtside reporter Jeanine Tsoi, looking into each other’s eyes, carving out sweet smiles before wrapping their arms around each other topped with a 'kilig-moment' kiss.
“Siyempre super happy kasi I knew Jeron wanted this,” Tsoi narrated to ABS-CBN Sports moments after DLSU completed its best-of-three series sweep of the Blue Eagles with a 79-72 win in Game 2 at the Big Dome Wednesday. “I’m super happy for him.”
Tsoi during the game was seen either clasping her hands tightly or shouting and jumping in jubilation whenever the Green Archers nail a field goal or complete a crucial defensive stop.
The charming CSR was extra jubilant when it was Teng scoring.
And her beau did a great job with that.
Teng scored 28 points in 12-of-20 field goal clip, making sure he’ll leave a winning legacy in his swan song.
“The whole season this is what he wanted and finally he achieved it,” said Tsoi, who added that their currently on their third month together. “The whole season I was behind him all the way supporting and believing in him. For me wala siyang bad game. Every after game sinasabi ko, “You did so well.””
Tsoi admitted that there were some tense moments in the match but she knew Teng and the Taft boys will deliver.
“Kabado talaga ako kapag nanonood ako pero from the beginning naman I know they can do it eh,” she said.
Teng is expected to move up to the pro league.
But for now, the graduating player will celebrate this conquest before facing a different battle: DLSU’s finals week.
And Tsoi will be there to cheer him again.
“But for now finals muna. Finals week na ng La Salle next week,” said Tsoi, who calls Jeron “Baby love”. “May accounting pa siya at may econ pa siya."
“Pero kayang-kaya niya yan. Jeron siya eh,” she added.
