THE REPLACEMENTS. The post vacated by Eric Altamirano is down to two candidates.

A homecoming or an arrival.

That is the question National University will have to answer as soon as possible.

Less than a week after accepting the resignation of Eric Altamirano, the Bulldogs’ management have their top two choices in Jamike Jarin currently of San Beda College and Jeff Napa now of Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

“Management wants Jamike, but the alumni want Jeff Napa,” a source said.

Altamirano tendered in his resignation as NU head coach last week. His staff comprised by Anton Altamirano, Joey Guanio, Paolo Layug, and Vic Ycasiano has also left with him.

The softspoken coach compiled a 50-43 win-loss record during his time in Sampaloc and oversaw the rise of a cellar-dweller into a contender.

According to sources, trying to fill Altamirano’s shoes will be present coaches of rival schools.

Jarin steered the Red Lions back to the championship in the most recent NCAA season. Before taking over in Mendiola two years ago, he also led Ateneo de Manila High School to multiple titles.

On the other hand, Napa registered a 9-9 record with the Knights in his first season in the collegiate ranks and failed to advance into the Final Four.

However, he is a highly-decorated coach in the Juniors in guiding the Bullpups to three championships in the last five years. He is also an alumnus of National U.

Neither Jarin nor Napa chose to comment on the development.

The development was first broken by Tiebreaker Times.
