WELCOME HOME FIREMAN? Pido Jarencio wants to come back to UST.
Sound the alarms because the Fireman might be back.
After sending that intruiging tweet a couple of weeks ago hinting a triumpant return to UST, Pido Jarencio has confirmed he's ready to come home to Espana.
If possible of course.
"Kung vacant yung position, gusto kong bumalik, gusto ko tulungan yung UST," Jarencio said according to a report by The Varsitarian, UST's official student publication.
Since leaving the Tigers after the UAAP Season 76 Finals, Jarencio has been busy in the PBA, coaching Globalport before eventually serving as an alternate governor for the Batang Pier.
UST meanwhile, has had two coaches since he's been gone, making the Finals one more time but ultimately missing the Final Four twice, including a woeful 3-11 record this year, the worst since the early 1990s.
"[Gusto ko na] umakyat tayo ulit at the same time, yung ma-involve natin lahat ng estudyante [at] alumni ulit. Ma-encourage natin na manood sila," Jarencio said.
During his first stint as coach of the Tigers, Jarencio led UST to the UAAP title back in 2006 and a couple of Finals appearances in 2012 and 2013. Under his watch, the Tigers also won the PCCL national title in 2012.
