SAME OLD. Calling the shots for FEU will still be coach Racela.
A Racela will remain at the helm of Far Eastern University.
Only this time, it won’t be Raoul Cesar “Nash” Racela.
The 20-time champion school in the UAAP announced on its website on Tuesday night the hiring of Rodericko Cesar “Olsen” Racela as the new head coach for the Tamaraws.
The 46-year-old Racela fills the shoes of his younger brother who has since moved onto taking the reins for TNT KaTropa in the PBA.
Olsen was a nine-time champion in the professional ranks and is considered one of the steadiest pointmen in the history of Philippine basketball. He spent most of his professional career with San Miguel after suiting up for Ateneo de Manila University.
Following his retirement, “The Big O” transitioned onto the sidelines as assistant coach for Petron, Purefoods, and most recently, Ginebra.
Racela will be tasked to continue the winning tradition already established by his sibling who left Morayta with one championship, four playoff berths, and players from RR Garcia to Terrence Romeo and from Mac Belo to Raymar Jose making a name for themselves.
