ALUMNI HOMECOMING. Danny Ildefonso will continue his coaching career in the place where his playing career blossomed.
The most decorated player ever produced by the National University basketball program is coming home.
Philippine basketball legend Danny Ildefonso will stand alongside coach Jamike Jarin as he takes over coaching duties for the Bulldogs.
“Danny Ildefonso will be my assistant coach,” Jarin said, confirming the development on Wednesday.
The now 40-year-old donned the blue and gold in the late 1990s before winning eight championships and two MVPs in the PBA.
Ildefonso then transitioned into coaching last 2016 by way of Ateneo de Manila High School where he mentored big men.
As per the Philippine basketball legend himself, he will just finish the ongoing season with the Blue Eaglets before moving on full-time with his alma mater.
Rounding out NU’s new staff are former pro cager John Ferriols, ex-Bulldog Cedric Labing-isa, and veteran coaches Dennis Llames and Ricky Reyes.
