GUIDANCE. A little prayer led Bright Akhuetie from Las Pinas to Diliman.
With three schools all in the running for his services, Bright Akhuetie turned to a higher being to help him decide what his next step should be.
In the end, the hulking Nigerian, with the help of a higher being, chose the University of the Philippines.
Asked for a reason for his transfer from University of Perpetual Help, Akhuetie answered, “I prayed about it then I decided to go to UP.”
The former Alta has not confirmed it, but earlier reports have stated that UP, Ateneo de Manila University, and De La Salle University were all vying for his services.
For the faithful over in Diliman, Akhuetie had one promise. “I will definitely give my best as always to achieve the goals of UP. Let’s go UP,” he expressed.
In two seasons with Perpetual, the 19-year-old averaged 17.9 points and 11.7 rebounds.
However, he will still have to sit out one season for residency. He will officially play for UP in Season 81.
