WE BACK, WE BACK, WE BACK. Carl Tamayo and Encho Serrano made certain Adamson wasn't going through a losing skid for the first time in the season.
Three days earlier, Adamson High School fell for the very first time in the UAAP 79 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
On Tuesday at the San Juan Arena, however, the Baby Falcons got right back up and got right back to their winning ways.
Encho Serrano and Carl Tamayo both muscled their way into dominant double-doubles and Adamson overwhelmed University of the Philippines Integrated School, 77-59.
Serrano pounded in 22 points and 10 rebounds while Tamayo towered above all for 15 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks as the Baby Falcons returned to the win column. Now at 8-1 still stand on even ground with Nazareth School of National University.
The upstart Junior Maroons were giving the league-leaders a run for their money in the first half and even led by three at the break. It was at that point, however, that Serrano, Tamayo, and Gerry Abadiano merged for all but three points in Adamson’s 25-15 third quarter.
In all, the Baby Falcons put the clamps on their opponents in the second half which they owned by a score of 48-27. Much of that was courtesy of their advantages in offensive rebounds, 25-8, and second chance points, 15-4.
Abadiano added 20 points as Adamson made certain it also wasn’t going through a losing skid for the first time in the season.
As always, Juan Gomez de Liano had 15 points and 11 rebounds to front the effort for UPIS which dropped to 3-6.
Ateneo de Manila High School also bounced back at the expense of University of Sto. Tomas, 81-75.
Of course, it ws SJ Belangel who piloted the Blue Eaglets back on track with 15 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Dave Ildefonso added 17 points and eight assists as they solidified their stranglehold on fourth-place now at 5-4.
With the loss, the Tiger Cubs fell to 2-7.
