MISSING. Only three teams are assured of a spot in the Final Four of the UAAP 79 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
A spot has, all of a sudden, opened up for the Final Four in the UAAP 79 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
With the league decision to suspend Encho Serrano and force the forfeiture of all the wins of Adamson High School, only three teams are assured of a playoff berth.
UPDATED TEAM STANDINGS
Adamson 0-12 *
NU 11-1 **
FEU-Diliman 10-2 **
Ateneo 9-3 **
* 11-1 before forfeiture
** clinched playoff berth
Defending champion Nazareth School of National University, Far Eastern University-Diliman, and Ateneo de Manila High School have earned their entry into the Final Four. All three are also still contesting the two twice-to-beat advantages.
Still in the running for the fourth and final playoff berth are De La Salle Zobel, University of the Philippines Integrated School, and University of Sto. Tomas who sport similar 5-7 cards.
The picture could get clearer after the gameday on Wednesday at the San Juan Arena where the Junior Archers will battle the Baby Tamaraws, the Junior Maroons will wrestle with the Bullpups, and the Tiger Cubs will take on the Baby Falcons sans Serrano.
If all three still stand on even ground after Wednesday, the fourth and final playoff berth will have to be determined three days later. Then, DLSZ and UPIS will duke it out while UST will face hapless University of the East.
