Ateneo gunning for solo lead in UAAP men's football

Jarvey Gayoso and the surging Blue Eagles try for solo first place in UAAP Season 79 Men's Football action

6:00 PM - Ateneo vs. UST (Men's)
League-leading Ateneo de Manila will try to strengthen their hold on solo-first place as they take on University of Santo Tomas in UAAP men's football action, Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Katipunan-side is coming off their second-straight win after taking down the National University, 3-0, Thursday, with goals from Jarvey Gayoso and Sam Lim. A third straight win for the Blue Eagle booters moves them up to solo first place in the men's standings.
UST on the other hand looks to bounce back after falling to Far Eastern University on opening weekend. After putting together a solid Season 78, the Tigers got off to a slow start in Season 79. Coach Marjo Allado's boys will try for their first win against the red-hot Blue Eagles.
Ateneo and UST go head to head at 6:00 PM.
Defending champions University of the Philippines will also try for consecutive wins as they face the struggling NU Bulldogs.
After opening the season with a scoreless draw, the Maroon booters hit their stride Thursday, blasting University of the East, 4-0. Daniel Saavedra, King Miyagi, Sebastian Patangan and Ray Sanciangco all provided the firepower for the Maroons. A win for the Maroons gives them solo-second place.
The post-Paolo Salenga has been quite rough for the NU Bulldogs so far. After pulling off a massive comeback against UE on opening day, they suffered their first loss of the season against Ateneo. They look to get their first win against the defending champions.
UP and NU clash at 4:00 PM.
In the first game of Sunday's men's football triple-header, De La Salle University eyes their first win of the season against UE.
The Green Archer booters opened Season 79 holding the defending champions UP to a scoreless draw, which is no small feat. This time around, the Taft side will look to bring home a win against the the Red Warriors.
After relinquishing a two-goal lead on opening day, UE found themselves giving up even more goals in their loss to UP, Thursday. They'll have a tough test in front of them when they meet the Green Archers, who are also looking to get on the win column.
DLSU and UE meet at 2:00 PM.
