FEU looks for third straight win in UAAP men's football
CHARGING FORWARD. The FEU Tamaraws are looking to make it three-for-three so far in Season 79

MATCHES on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18th (Rizal Memorial Football Stadium)

2:00 PM  - ATENEO vs. FEU (Women's)

4:00 PM - NU vs. FEU (Men's)

6:00 PM - DLSU vs. UP (Women's)

Former back-to-back UAAP men's football champions Far Eastern University look to continue their road back to the promised land as they aim for their third straight win when they take on struggling National University in UAAP men's football action Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

It has been two games, two successful outings so far for the Tamaraws, who began the season with a 2-0 victory over University of Santo Tomas, followed by a 4-0 drubbing of Adamson University. After making a switch in head coaches over the offseason, it looks like the Tamaraws have been adjusting well. Senior Paolo Bugas has been nothing short of a leader on the pitch, but it has been the consistent play of star sophomores Rico Andes and skipper Val Jurao that has helped FEU off to a hot start.

NU on the other hand, has struggled to find their stride so far this season. Their impressive opening day comeback has been followed up by a couple of big blowouts, and they have not been able to find the back of the net in their last two outings. Like FEU, the Bulldogs have also undergone a change in coaching, but the wins have not yet come their way.

NU and FEU face off at 4:00 PM.

In women's action, Ateneo de Manila looks to carry over the momentum from their opening day win as they meet former back-to-back-to-back champions FEU, while De La Salle University makes their season debut against defending champions University of the Philippines in a rematch of last season's finals.

The Lady Eagles started their season on the right track last weekend, picking up an opening day W over defending champions UP, courtesy of an early conversion from Nona Amoncio. They face another stern test in their second outing as they face an FEU squad that's determined to bounce back.

The former three-peat champions had a more unpleasant debut, dropping their first match at the hands of University of Santo Tomas, 2-1, courtesy of goals from Hazel Lustan and Charisa Lemoran. Lady Tamaraws skipper Jovelle Sudaria was the lone scorer for FEU, and had a chance to even things up late, but unfortunately had her penalty saved by Tigresses keeper Nicole Reyes.

Ateneo and FEU square off at 2:00 PM.

In the last match of the day, DLSU makes their Season 79 debut against reigning champions, and the last team they faced last season, UP.

Surely with a bit of payback in the back of their heads, last season's league leaders are looking to start their year strong once again. Expect reigning Rookie of the Year Sara Castañeda and skipper Inna Palacios to lead the way for the Lady Archers.

After opening their season on a sour note, expect the defending champions to try and get back on track.

DLSU and UP kick off at 6:00 PM.
