Far Eastern University takes on listless University of the East in its attempt to get back on the winning track.
Far Eastern University looks to bounce back from a devastating setback Saturday in a showdown with winless University of the East in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Game time is at 2:00 p.m. and will air live over ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 23 and via livestream.
The Lady Tamaraws shot themselves on the foot last Sunday when they squandered a 2-1 match lead to see Ateneo de Manila run away with a 25-19, 24-26, 19-25, 25-16, 15-11, victory.
The loss pulled the Morayta-based squad down to 1-2 slate at fifth to sixth place tied with idle University of Sto. Tomas.
UE, on the other hand, is in search of its first win of the season.
The Lady Warriors showed lot potential in its season-opener after claiming the first set against league-leading National University before folding in the next three.
But that was the only frame won by UE after losing its next two matches by straight sets. The Lady Warriors bowed to UST, 9-25, 22-25, 23-25, last Wednesday.
The Recto-based squad in their losses gave their opponents quite a scare but head coach Francis Vicente is tired of his wards just giving a good fight, he wants it translated into victory.
“Tama na ‘yung ‘OK lang maganda ang laro.’ Ayoko na nu’n, nakaka-bad trip ‘yun. Nakakainis ‘yun eh,” said Vicente, also the national team head coach but is unlucky in his three years of handling UE with a 1-30 win-loss record.
Skipper Shaya Adorador, who only had one point the last time out, has to shake off her scoring slump to help carry the the Lady Warriors against the Lady Tams led by Bernadeth Pons, Remy Palma, Toni Basas and Jerrili Malabanan.
