University of the Philippines hopes to keep its winning streak going.
Unbeaten University of the Philippines targets its fourth straight win and to keep its tight hold of the lead when the Lady Maroons face the challenge of the very dangerous University of Sto. Tomas Sunday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Coming off a morale-boosting win over reigning champion De La Salle University, the Lady Maroons will take center court at 2:00 p.m. hoping to keep its perfect record intact.
The game will air live over ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 23 and via livestream.
UP, which is off to its best start in years, is tied with National University on top of the heap with a 3-0 win-loss record.
The Diliman-based squad snapped a 16-game losing streak to the Lady Spikers on Wednesday, scoring a huge 25-22, 25-21, 25-19, shocker.
UP pins its hopes on veterans Nicole Tiamzon, who dropped 16 points the last timeout, Kathy Bersola and Marian Buitre and from the pair of sophomore hitters Diana Carlos and Isa Molde.
But the Lady Maroons are expected to face tough opposition from the Tigresses, who are looking to start a winning streak.
UST shook off a two-game slump with a 25-9, 25-22, 25-23, win over listless University of the East last Wednesday.
The Tigresses behind the trio of EJ Laure, Cherry Rondina and Ria Meneses teamed up to give the Espana-based squad its first win in three tries.
