De La Salle University wins its second straight match.
Reigning champion De La Salle University collected its second straight win as the Lady Spikers walloped the hapless Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-12, 25-16, 25-15, Wednesday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Spikers kept its share of the second to third spots with 4-1 win-loss record tied with archrival Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles behind unbeaten league-leading University of the Philippines (4-0).
Season 78 Finals Most Valuable Player Kim Dy scored 15 points highlighted by 10 attacks while Filipino-Nigerian Aduke Ogunsanya pounded seven spikes with three aces and a kill block for 11 markers for the Taft-based squad.
It was DLSU’s second straight dominating win after sweeping National University last Sunday to erase the bitter three-set loss to the Lady Maroons.
The Lady Spikers had 36 kills with six kill blocks and frustrated the floor defense of Adamson with 11 service aces.
"Nagbalik na ang kompiyansa kasi after ng loss namin sa UP medyo nawala ang kompiyansa. After ng game namin sa NU doon muli kumuha ng confidence ang team," said DLSU coach Ramil De Jesus.
Adamson slid to 0-5 slate tied with University of the East. The Lady Falcons dropped their 12th match overall since last season.
Jema Galanza had seven points while Bernadette Flora got four for Adamson, which is yet to win a set this season.
