GIVE US A SMILE. JLC admitted the Finals loss was a bitter pill to swallow, but remained upbeat about what's next for him.
Nazareth School of National University has made six straight Finals, but has never won two straight championships.
Far Eastern University-Diliman made sure of that in the UAAP 79 Juniors Basketball Tournament after sweeping the Bullpups last Friday.
Of course, NU team captain John Lloyd Clemente acknowledged how bitter their loss was. “Masakit yung pagkatalo namin kasi binuhos naman namin lahat, ginawa namin lahat ng magagawa namin,” he said.
He also added, “Masakit din sa akin kasi last year ko na ‘to.”
Personally, however, the graduating swingman said he can take solace in the fact that he gave it his all. As he put it, “Wala naman po akong regret. Ginawa ko naman yung magagawa ko para matulungan ko yung team.”
Without a doubt, Clemente was the sole reason the Bullpups even had a chance in their two-game series defeat. His averages of 25.5 points, six rebounds, and 2.5 assists were actually almost enough.
As such, the 18-year-old has no hang-ups as he takes the next step in his career. “Hindi man totally masaya na tapos na yung high school career ko, pero masaya ako na pwede na akong mag-level up na sa lahat,” he expressed while beaming.
And there in the collegiate ranks, expect Clemente, at one time always poker-faced, to still be smiling. “Enjoy na lang lagi. Enjoy na lang sa game,” he said.
