EASY WIN --- University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses are all smiles after drubbing Adamson in straight sets.
University of Sto. Tomas buried the hapless Adamson Lady Falcons deeper as the Tigresses returned in win column Saturday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Banking on its more experienced crew, the Espana-based squad scored a walk in the park 25-13, 25-12, 25-9, victory to improve its win-loss record to 2-3.
Skipper Cherry Rondina led the Tigresses’ assault, destroying the defense of Adamson by smashing 11 kills.
The lopsided game also gave UST head coach Kungfu Reyes a chance to shuffle his bench with 11 of the 12 scoring players he fielded delivering productions.
EJ Laure and Alina Bicar had six points apiece for the Tigresses, who rained down 14 service aces.
“Ok naman yung nilaro. Siyempre a win is a win regardless (ng kung sino kalaban),” said Reyes.
“Sa part namin kumbaga building confidence ang ginagawa namin ngayon e. Talagang tyinaga namin sa service. Siguro less pressure kaya ganoon ang yung intensity at consistency ng service namin,” he added.
Alexine Cabanos was able to get all of her teammates involved on offense with 29 excellent sets in UST’s 31 attack points.
The Lady Falcons fell to its sixth straight loss in as many outings and 13th overall since last season.
No player on the Adamson side scored in double figures with skipper Jema Galanza finishing with only seven markers.
