Late-game heroics helps DLSU draw UST
DLSU and UST battled to a 2-2 draw, Sunday evening at the Rizal Memorial Stadium
Jose Montelibano found one more equalizer in the the dying minutes of injury time to help De La Salle University hold University of Santo Tomas to a 2-2 draw, Sunday evening at the Rizal Memorial Stadium to snap their three-game losing skid in UAAP Season 79 men's football action.
Birthday boy Jayson Rafol of UST had the DLSU faithful in attendance on edge midway through the first half with a 25th minute goal to give the Tigers an early lead.
The advantage wouldn't last long though, as rookie Marcus Garcia found the equalizer just eleven minutes later.
Just like he did in the first stanza, Rafol struck again, giving the Espanya-based squad a 2-1 cushion.
It looked as if UST had the win in the bag with the match heading into four minutes of injury time, when Jose Montelibano helped DLSU pull even once again two minutes into injury time.
With the officials allowing at least a few more possessions, both sides tried to break the deadlock once again, but to no avail and the score remained at 2-2 after the final whistle.
After dropping their last three games, DLSU manages to get back on the board with a draw and one point. The one win, two draws, and three losses for five points, good for fifth in the men's standings.
UST on the other hand, remains ahead of DLSU with two wins, one draw, and three losses for seven points.
