NO COMMENT. DLSU kept mum after suffering a tough loss to archrival Ateneo.
Coach Ramil De Jesus had no comment about De La Salle University’s tough loss to Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday.
Neither had any of the Lady Spikers.
Reporters waited outside the locker room of the Taft-based team for about an hour, but came away with no interviews.
Mixed emotions could be seen from faces of DLSU staff and players alike following their four-set defeat at the hands of their archrivals.
Asked for an interview, Aduke Ogunsanya courteously declined, explaining that was what they were told to do. “Sorry po. Bawal po ang interview,” she said.
The Lady Archers had just fallen victim to Mich Morente and the Lady Eagles’ daring and determination.
Leading by four in the first, they witnessed Morente go off for half of the points in the 6-1 rally that seized the set for Ateneo.
In the second, DLSU was again ahead by five only to see Morente front a 7-2 push that seized for her team a 2-0 set lead.
The Lady Spikers finally closed out a set in the third, but were then at the wrong end of the Lady Eagles’ quick counter in the fourth.
In the end, the score read 26-24, 26-24, 21-25, and 25-17 for Ateneo.
And in the end of the first round, the standings read 6-1 for the Lady Eagles and 5-2 for DLSU.
