Graduating libero Pia Gaiser of University of the Philippines is under strict evaluation after going down with a left knee injury early in the opening set of the Lady Maroons’ match against National University Sunday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.

She went down on the floor grimacing in pain.
Gaiser was stretchered back to their dugout and was immediately checked by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Raul Canlas.
“She is now under strict evaluation,” according to UP team officials inside their dugout.

Hitter Nicole Tiamzon also went down with a sprain last Wednesday in the Diliman-based squad’s second loss of the season.
Two seasons ago, veteran Kathy Bersola sustained a season-ending right ACL injury also at the end of the first round of eliminations.
As of posting time, the Lady Bulldogs took the first set, 25-23.
