University of the East ends losing slump in win over Adamson.
University of the East asserted its mastery over the Adamson University Lady Falcons as the Lady Warriors arrested a six-game losing skid Sunday at the MOA Arena.
Team captain Shaya Adorador led UE past Adamson, 25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, to end the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament on a high note.
Adorador finished with 23 points off 20 attacks, a pair of kill blocks and an ace.
“Sobrang importante ng win na ito and dadalhin namin ito sa second round,” said Adorador, who added 21 digs.
Mary Anne Mendrez added nine points with eight coming from attacks including the match-clinching kill that lasted for two hours. Angelica Dacaymat had eight markers while Roselle Baliton got 55 excellent sets for UE.
Kathleen Arado had 45 digs and 26 excellent receptions for the Lady Warriors.
The win served as a repeat of UE’s straight sets victory to end Season 78 against the Lady Falcons that halted the Lady Warriors’ 58-game losing streak.
Jema Galanza’s effort for Adamson came into naught as the Lady Falcons slid to 0-7 and14th straight defeat since last season.
Galanza finished with 18 points with 15 coming off spikes while Joy Dacoron got nine for the Lady Falcons.
