Lady Bulldogs eye second straight win
National University hunts for its second straight win in rematch with Adamson.

National University head coach Roger Gorayeb hopes that the Lady Bulldogs could start a winning run Wednesday after snapping out of a three-game losing slump.

The Lady Bulldogs face the winless Adamson Lady Falcons at 2:00 p.m. to open their campaign in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament second round eliminations at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The game will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.

“Psychologically, maganda-ganda (ang laban namin) but we have to be a different team on the second round. Masyadong critical na ‘yan. We cannot be lacking sa emotions namin,” said Gorayeb, whose team started out the season on a high note with three straight wins before dropping three games in a row.

NU was able to halt its skid in hard-fought, character-building victory over the slumping University of the Philippines, 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 18-25, 15-12, Sunday to close the first round.

The Lady Bulldogs are in a four-way tie at third to sixth spots with Far Eastern University, UP and University of Sto. Tomas with 4-3 win-loss record.

Gorayeb pins his hopes on Most Valuable Player contender Jaja Santiago, Jorelle Singh, Risa Sato, setter Jasmine Nabor and Aiko Urdas to turn  their campaign around and make a repeat of their 25-15, 25-22, 19, drubbing of the Lady Falcons last February 12.

“We have to fight with intensity aggressiveness, with conviction, ‘yan kailangan namin ‘yan,’ he said. “We should be a different team if we really want to go to the Finals.”

Adamson has yet to win a game this season after seven games.

The Lady Falcons are fresh from a 22-25, 25-20, 17-25, 18-25, defeat at the hands of University of the East last Sunday. It was Adamson’s 14th straight loss since last season.
