All eyes are on Kim Dy as she tries to carry De La Salle back in the win column in a rematch with Far Eastern University.
Defending champion De La Salle University and Far Eastern University battle in a match that will serve as a test of character for both teams coming off painful defeats.
The Lady Spikers and Lady Tamaraws clash to get back on the winning track Wednesday at the start of the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament second round eliminations at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Opening serve is at 4:00 p.m. airing live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
DLSU is at solo second spot with a 5-2 win-loss record behind league-leading Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles (6-1).
The Lady Spikers saw their three-game winning run snapped by archrival Lady Eagles Sunday in a rematch of last year’s finals.
It was a sorry loss for the Taft-based squad after they squandered their set point advantages in the first and second frames to bow down, 24-26, 24-26, 25-21, 17-25, to Ateneo.
The Lady Spikers declined to grant an interview after that loss but it can be seen in their eyes the thirst to redeem themselves and score a bounce back win.
Veteran setter Kim Fajardo, hitters Kim Dy, Majoy Baron, Aduke Ogunsanya, and Ernestine Tiamzon are expected to go all-out for a repeat of their 29-27, 25-22, 25-23, win over FEU in their season opener last February 5.
But the Lady Tams are out to write a different story.
Stuck at third to sixth spots with 4-3 record alongside National University, University of the Philippines and University of Sto. Tomas, FEU is looking to overtake DLSU at second and avenge its defeat to the Lady Spikers in the first round.
Bernadeth Pons, Remy Palma, Toni Basas and Jerrili Malabanan spearheads the Morayta-based squad’s drive to rebound from its 16-25, 25-21, 24-26, 20-25, loss to UST last Saturday.
