De La Salle University targets its second straight win and repeat over National University.
Coming off a mighty bounce back win that saw De La Salle score the second most lopsided set win for the past seven seasons, the defending champion Lady Spikers hunt for their second straight victory Sunday.
The Lady Spikers face the National University Lady Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. as they attempt to score back-to-back wins in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Big Dome.
The match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
DLSU is at solo second spot with 6-2 win-loss record behind archrival Ateneo de Manila (7-1).
The Taft-based squad are coming off a 25-5, 25-23, 25-23 victory over Far Eastern University last Wednesday.
The Lady Spikers’ opening set rout was the second most lopsided since the league implemented the rally point system in 2000. University of Sto. Tomas scored a one-sided 25-2, 25-15, 25-8 win against University of the East back in January 9, 2010.
Desiree Cheng, who had 11 points in their last outing, Aduke Ogunsanya, Ernestine Tiamzon, Kim Dy and veteran setter Kim Fajardo are expected to deliver the same intensity to score a repeat over the Lady Bulldogs.
NU is on a two-game roll for a 5-3 record tied with University of Sto. Tomas.
Jaja Santiago, Risa Sato, Aiko Urdas and Jorelle Singh showed the way the last time out when the Lady Bulldogs defeated Adamson, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, last March 8.
NU is looking to avenge its 27-29, 16-25, 21-25, loss at the hands of DLSU last February 19.
That loss started the Lady Bulldogs’ three-game skid.
