National University battle struggling Adamson University for at least a playoff for a semifinals berth.
Streaking National University seeks to secure at least a playoff for a Final Four spot Wednesday when the Bulldogs face the barely hanging on Adamson University Falcons in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Opening serve is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
The Bulldogs are on a six-game roll for a 7-1 win-loss record at second spot behind the unbeaten three-peat seeking Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles (9-0).
NU defeated University of Sto. Tomas, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-18, last Saturday and is looking to assert its mastery over the Falcons, which they shot down 24-26, 25-17, 25-23, 28-26, last February 12.
Adamson is coming off a sorry 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 14-16, loss to University of the East. The win snapped the Red Warriors’ 35-game losing skid.
A semifinalist last year and one of the favorites to advance in the Final Four this season, the Falcons are in trouble of ending their season early with a 2-6 slate.
Meanwhile, UE after quenching its long thirst for victory hopes to make it two in a row in a duel with UST at 8:00 a.m.
The Tigers are a win short of the top four behind current fourth placer University of the Philippines (4-5).
The Red Warriors remain at the cellar with a 1-7 card.
