University of Sto. Tomas snapped a three-game skid with a 25-21, 22-25 25-21, 25-18 win over the University of the East Red Warriors in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Manuel Medina led three other players in double figures that powered the Espana-based squad to a 4-5 win-loss record tied with University of the Philippines.
Medina smashed 11 attacks for 13 points while Arnold Bautista, Tyrone Carodan and Jerico Jose scored 10 points each for the Tigers.
The Red Warriors dropped its eighth game in nine outings to formally bid its Final Four hopes goodbye.
Edward Camposano was the only UE player in double-digit scoring with 18 points anchored on 14 spikes while Alven Aljas finished with eight in two sets for the Red Warriors, who failed to make a follow up in their five-set win over Adamson that arrested their 35-game losing slump.
