Marck Espejo will try to lead Ateneo de Manila to its 10th straight win and at least a playoff for a Final Four twice-to-beat advantage.
After securing a spot in the next round, the three-peat seeking and unbeaten Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles gun for at least a playoff for a Final Four twice-to-beat advantage against University of Sto. Tomas Saturday in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 10:00 a.m. after the match between the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons and the also-ran University of the East Red Warriors at 8:00 a.m.
The Blue Eagles and Tigers duel will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
Ateneo snatched the first semifinals seat after defeating UP, 25-19, 26-28, 25-15, 25-16, last week as the Blue Eagles extended their winning run to nine in a row.
The Katipunan-based squad, which clinched its fourth straight semis appearance, is on a 23-game winning roll since last season and is looking to make a repeat of its straight sets win over UST in the season-opener more than a month ago.
The Tigers snapped a three-game losing skid with a 25-21, 22-25, 25-12, 25-18, win against the Red Warriors last Wednesday for a 4-5 slate tied with UP at fourth to fifth spots.
UE remains at the bottom with a 1-8 mark.
