Streaking Ateneo de Manila searches for its eighth straight win in rematch against Far Eastern University.
League-leading Ateneo de Manila hunts for its eighth win in a row and to inch closer to a Final Four spot in a clash with the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws Saturday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 4:00 p.m. airing live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
The Lady Eagles are on a hot streak, winning seven in a row for an 8-1 win-loss record to keep a tight hold of the lead. A win will give the Katipunan-based squad at least a playoff for a semifinals berth.
Ateneo is coming off a 25-10, 26-24, 28-26, win over the University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses last Wednesday.
Seasoned setter Jia Morado was the glue that kept the Lady Eagles together in the tight match against the Tigresses. She tossed in 27 excellent sets to make life easier for Ateneo hitters Bea de Leon, Jho Maraguinot, Kat Tolentino and Michelle Morente.
The Lady Tamaraws are looking to shake free from a four-way tie at 5-4 slate with UST, National University and University of the Philippines.
Aside from boosting its chance to advance in the next round, FEU also wants to avenge a painful 19-25, 26-24, 25-19, 16-25, 11-15 loss to the Lady Eagles in the first round.
The Morayta-based squad hopes to use the momentum of its 25-9, 25-20, 25-11 drubbing of Adamson Lady Falcons last week to exact revenge on Ateneo but will need the A-game of Toni Basas, Remy Palma. Jerrili Malabanan and Bernadeth Pons to do so.
