De La Salle and University of the Philippines battle to strengthen their semifinals hopes.
Revenge and at least a playoff for Final Four spot are the motivations for the defending champion De La Salle University when the Lady Spikers face University of the Philippines in their 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament elimination round rematch on Sunday.
Expect fireworks inside the FilOil Flying V Centre when the action begins at 4:00 p.m. The match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
DLSU fashions a 7-2 win-loss record at second spot behind the league-leading and semifinals-bound Ateneo de Manila (9-1).
The Taft-based squad is coming off back-to-back wins against Far Eastern University and National University and is looking to use its momentum to get back at the same squad that handed DLSU its first loss of the season.
La Salle suffered a shocking 22-25, 21-25, 19-25 loss in its first meeting with the Lady Maroons last February 15. UP scored a stunning win that ended the Diliman-based squad’s 16-game head-to-head losing slide against the Lady Spikers.
The Lady Maroons will need to bring their A-game to make a repeat against DLSU and improve their 5-4 card.
UP ended a four-game skid with a 25-14, 18-25, 25-15, 25-10 win over University of the East.
